What to expect & how best to prepare for your Skincare Consultation

Our Skin Expert will take note of your previous medical concerns and any notes you leave for them, but there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your Skincare Consultation.

  • Make a list of any questions/problems or concerns you wish to discuss beforehand - this will prepare you with what you would like us to focus on.
  • Check your camera and microphone is enabled on the device you are using - in addition, make sure you are somewhere quiet with a good internet connection if you can!
  • Grab a pen & paper - you may want to note down any important points, hints or tips on skincare.
  • Ideally, remove any make-up you are wearing and cleanse your skin if you can - this will assist your therapist in being able to analyse your skin more accurately.
  • We will ask you several questions about your concerns, medical history and current skincare routine - so if you need to prepare anything for us, do this in advance.
  • Try keeping a skin diary - it will help you to identify your most pressing skin concerns, so we can keep the consultation focused on helping you the best we can!

Skincare concerns we can help you to address

Our products tackle all of the most common skin problems: wrinkles, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, laxity, texture, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, Acne and Rosacea.

Ageing Skin

Age, genetics, diet, stress, environment, smoking and sun exposure can all contribute to visible signs of ageing on your skin. Ageing skin is not just wrinkles and fine lines, but also dullness, uneven tone, loss of elasticity, reduced firmness and loss of natural hydration. Our aim is to provide a pro-age skin programme to achieve your best skin health and a supple, resilient, smooth appearance.

Acne & Oil

TM

Acne can occur when your body creates excess sebum and oil which can build up and cause your pores to become blocked. There are a number of causes for acne, including hormonal changes, disorders of skin production, or bacteria build-up. At Tay Medispa, we recommend products that feature essential ingredients to slow sebum activity and excess oil production while exfoliating dead skin cells to help tighten pores and improve skin texture.

Pigmentation

IPL

Hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation refer to the changes of colour in your skin. Melanin is made by cells in the skin and is responsible for your skin colour. Hyperpigmentation is a condition that causes your skin to darken in areas, whereas in Hypopigmentation there is pigment loss. Hyperpigmentation can be treated by controlling the melanin production and encouraging blending of the pigment. This will help you achieve even tone, bright skin and improved texture.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a facial skin condition which causes redness, facial flushing, open pores, coarse textural, broken capillaries, pustules and sensitisation of the skin. It can be triggered by a number of factors including heat, sunlight, stress, alcohol or even spicy foods. Rosacea is a chronic problem, but with the help of medical-grade products the symptoms and signs can be controlled and flare-ups reduced.

Enlarged Pores

TM

Our pores double in size between the ages of thirty and forty! This leads to increased sebum production in the glands, which mixes with with the dead skin cells and blocks the pore. This destroys elasticity and causes inflammation, leading to large pores, rough skin and a weakened barrier. For this reason, exfoliation is so important in skin health and everyone can benefit from it, even those with diseased skin.

Sensitive or Sensitised?

Some people have genetically dry skin, usually those with conditions like ezcema and psoriasis. These people may be truly "sensitive". Others have sensitised skin; when the barrier function becomes impaired and the skin may feel dry or sensitive. The two conditions, although difficult to tell apart, should be treated in different ways. Our expert therapists will guide you to the most suitable treatments depending on the root cause of your skin problem.
