There are many reasons why people choose filler to enhance their lip shape. Maybe you have always had narrow lips and you would like them to look slightly fuller? Or perhaps your lips have become thinner and less well defined due to smoking or normal ageing. Just as with the skin, the lips naturally lose Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen as we age, leading to diminished volume and elasticity. Lip fillers are injectable gels used to replenish lost Hyaluronic acid and plump the tissues.

Products such as Restylane and Juvederm closely resemble our own Hyaluronic Acid; which makes them safe, natural looking and superior to synthetic or collagen fillers. Your body will then gradually and evenly dissolve these temporary fillers over 6-12 months.

Lip Fillers can help with the following concerns:

  • Increase volume in naturally thin lips
  • Enhance lip line definition
  • Enhance the cupid's bow
  • Reduce the appearance of smoker’s lines
  • Reduce the tendency for lipstick to “bleed”

The costs of Lip Filler treatment is as follows:

  • Restylane 0.5ml £200
  • Juvederm 0.5ml £220
  • Restylane 1ml £280
  • Juvederm 1ml £300

Dr Julia will consult with you in detail to determine the filler type and volume required, depending on your needs.

Lip Enhancement FAQ's

Am I a candidate for Dermal Fillers or Lip Filler?

Most people who opt for dermal fillers are experiencing the effects of volume loss with ageing, however people may choose to have lip fillers simply due to their personal aesthetic preference. Many people experience thinning of the lips with age, or fine and wrinkles around the mouth; they can also be treated with filler around the lip area. We are able to achieve a very natural appearance if that is your preference, with adjustments in volume and filler-type.

We use Restylane and Juvederm for Dermal Fillers & Lip Fillers as we feel they deliver the best results

Prior Treatment

Dr Julia will carry out a medical assessment to ensure you are suitable for treatment, and discuss your aesthetic aims. We will also go through the consent form and discuss any potential side effects or complications and risks. Topical Anaesthetic will be applied for 15 minutes prior the treatment to make the area numb

Post Treatment

Once the treatment has been completed the results will begin to appear immediately. Everyone experiences variable amounts of swelling, and this will reduce over 1-3 days.

You should avoid touching or applying makeup on the treated area in order to prevent infection. Dr Julia will provide you with specific post treatment instructions that will be given to you on the day of your treatment

Possible Risk of Lip Filler

Lip injections are generally safe but, as with all procedures, there are some potential complications which Dr Julia will make you aware of. It is important to consult an experienced and qualified Practitioner to minimise any risks.

Minor side effects include redness, swelling and bruising. If you experience a more serious complication, we may advise that the filler be dissolved. Serious complications could include: delayed allergic reaction, granuloma formation, infection and vascular occlusion. These are rare but will be discussed in detail before you decide whether to proceed.

Why Lip Filler & How Much is Required.

With a single enhancement procedure by Dr Julia, your lips will look substantially fuller, younger and more defined. Dr Julia will advise you on how much lip filler will be required for your desired look. In most cases 0.5 - 1mL is sufficient.

It is important to work with your natural lip shape and not to over stretch the lip which could lead to tissue damage over time.

How Long Do Lip Fillers Last??

Lip fillers typically last 6-18 months depending on  the dermal filler brand, how quickly your body breaks down the filler, your skin quality and skincare.  Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and smoking can also effect how long the results may last.
