At Tay Medispa, we use the Venus Versa IPL platform, which delivers excellent results for the right candidates. However, due to the specific technology used in this system, IPL hair removal is only recommended for Fitzpatrick skin types I to III.

Before starting any treatment, our expert therapists will carry out a thorough consultation and medical questionnaire, followed by a patch test to ensure your safety and suitability.

Please note:

• The Venus Versa IPL is not suitable for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV to VI), as the risk of pigmentation changes or burns is higher and results may be less effective.

• IPL is most effective on dark, coarse hair.

• It is not suitable for white, grey, red, or very fair/fluffy hair, as there is not enough pigment in the hair for the light to target.

• Clients with recent sun exposure, tanned skin, or who use tanning products should delay treatment.

• IPL is also not suitable for those with certain medical conditions, including photosensitive disorders or a history of cancer.

To ensure the best results from your IPL treatment, please shave the area 2–3 days prior to your appointment. This allows for approximately 2mm of hair growth on the day of treatment or patch test, which is ideal for effective results.

We recommend booking a consultation beforehand to assess if IPL is the best treatment for your needs. During this appointment, we can also discuss any concerns and suggest alternative treatments if necessary.

We recommend avoiding waxing or plucking between your IPL sessions, as these remove the hair follicle that the treatment targets. Shaving is the way to go – it’s the best way to manage regrowth and keep things smooth in between treatments.

For your first session, try to shave the area 2–3 days before your appointment. This allows just enough hair (about 2mm) for the IPL to work effectively. Avoid shaving on the day, as a little regrowth is actually helpful!

Most clients require 4–8 sessions for optimal results. Treatments are typically scheduled:

• Every 6 weeks for the face

• Every 4–8 weeks for the body
